Honoring Cruzmilda "Millie" Maldonado – Founder of the Puerto Rican Parade of Fairfield County

Cruzmilda "Millie" Maldonado is the visionary founder of the Puerto Rican Parade of Fairfield County. In 1993, she started the parade to bring together the Puerto Rican community in Fairfield County, celebrate their culture, and share their pride.

Millie’s passion and dedication turned the parade into a significant cultural event, uniting the community year after year. She became an inspiration and a mentor, ensuring the legacy of the parade would continue to thrive.

Today, the Puerto Rican Parade stands as a lasting tribute to Millie’s leadership, dedication, and love for Puerto Rican culture.

With deep respect and gratitude, the Puerto Rican Parade of Fairfield County Executive Board honors Frankie “Wepa” Colón, a legendary past president of our festival and parade. His unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment to our community left an indelible mark that will never be forgotten.

Known by all as “Wepa” for his warm and energetic greeting, Frankie’s passion for Puerto Rican culture and his tireless efforts to elevate our traditions made him a cornerstone of our organization. He was not just a leader—he was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him. His legacy lives on in the vibrant celebrations he helped create and in the hearts of all he touched.

Today, we honor his contributions and treasure the memories of his incredible work. His spirit, always full of life and joy, will forever remain a part of the Puerto Rican Parade of Fairfield County.
